Open Burning Regulations
Open burning regulations within the Village of McLean:
Recreational fires, when performed safely and within established guides, can be a very enjoyable outdoor activity. However, failure to follow guidelines may lead to potentially hazardous conditions. In many cases, when the following regulations are not adhered to, it leads to objectionable smoke which causes neighbors to call 911. The Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Protection District is authorized to order the extinguishment of open burning that creates or adds to a hazardous or objectionable situation.
Open burning is only allowed the months of March, April, October, November and thru December 20th.
Burning hours:
Mon – Sat: 8:00 am to sunset
Sun: 1:00 pm to sunset
Allowable materials to burn:
- Papers
- Leaves
- Landscape waste (dry vegetation or dry plant refuse)
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BURN TRASH.
