Chief's Message
As the Chief of the Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Protection District, I want to welcome you to our website. Our fire protection district was formed by voter referendum in 1937. Since that time, both the community and the fire protection district have seen many changes. In its infancy, the department was all volunteer. Today, the Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Protection District has a staffing of EMS personnel on the Ambulance 24/7/365 days with having two personnel at the station M-F 6am - 6pm. The all other personnel are Paid-on-Call, running roughly 240 calls for service per year.
The Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Protection District Mission Statement says, “Meeting the needs of our community in fire prevention, fire suppression and rescue. Utilizing and improving all of our services and operations. In carrying out this mission, the Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Protection District will give top priority to life, safety, property and environmental concerns. Always communicating openly and honestly to our community and members to insure trust and confidence.” Our members embody what this means. Rest assured our firefighter & EMS personnel are trained to the highest level in all facets of Emergency Services, including firefighting, emergency medical services, and special operations.
Our members take great pride in serving our community. When we are not busy responding to incidents or striving to challenge ourselves to achieve our greatest potential, our members routinely participate in many community events, provide public education, and educate the community on fire prevention. Being a firefighter/EMT is so much more than just showing up on an ambulance or fire apparatus for an incident. They conduct life safety inspections, teach CPR and assist other community organizations.
At the end of the day, we are here for you. If you have any questions about the Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Protection District or the services we provide, please do not hesitate to reach out or stop by our station.
Fire Chief
